New Town Centre Office Building Renovation Project Completed in Colchester

Category: Uncategorized

Our client recently acquired a charming two-story town centre building dating back to the 1930s.  They embarked on an extensive refurbishment and modernisation project, transforming the space into high-quality office accommodation for their business.  The primary objective was to create a high-quality office environment that is energy efficient, comfortable to work in, and technologically advanced.

The project entailed enhancing thermal insulation to the external walls and roof, upgrading the building envelope, and installing energy efficient mechanical and electrical services throughout.  Technicus Consulting played a pivotal role, providing structural design and consultancy services.  We completed detailed structural modelling, analysis and design verification calculations for the existing floors and  lightweight timber and steel trussed roof structure, ensuring they could safely support the revised dead and imposed load arrangements.

In close collaboration with the project architect and mechanical & electrical engineers, we strategically positioned heavy mechanical heating and ventilation equipment. By minimising the need for additional strengthening of the existing building’s structural elements, we achieved significant cost savings for our client.

We’re thrilled to see our client’s business and staff settling into the newly refurbished building, enjoying the fantastic working environment that it now offers.

It has been a pleasure working with our client, Adam Edwards Architects and Chamberlain Homes Ltd on this interesting and exciting project.

Congratulations to everyone involved.
