Caister Lifeboat Station: A Collaborative Effort to Support Community & Safety

Category: Uncategorized

At Technicus Consulting, we are always excited to revisit projects where our structural design and consultancy services have played a key role. Our recent collaboration with Caister Volunteers Lifeboat Service (CVLS) and project architects, Paul Robinson Partnership (uk) LLP, on the Caister Lifeboat Station is a perfect example.

We provided comprehensive civil and structural design expertise to widen the existing slipway and deliver structural alterations and extensions to the lifeboat shed. These upgrades were essential to accommodate CVLS’s new, larger £1.6m Medina-class lifeboat, as well as a new tractor and trailer unit used for launching and recovering the boat.

Internally, we helped design a cantilevered balcony structure to offer visitors a unique high-level view of the lifeboat when it’s parked inside, alongside providing seating for a newly created café. A two-storey extension houses a new shop, kitchen, and café, along with an external terrace that offers spectacular sea views.

This exciting project is a great example of how collaboration can drive innovation and meet both operational and community needs. We are proud to have worked alongside CVLS and Paul Robinson Partnership (UK) LLP to bring this vision to life.
