Technicus Consulting are pleased to support two local college students as they undertake a 20 day internship project in conjunction wih UK Power Networks. Interns, Joe Darling and Robert Williams, both 18, are part of the East Coast Energy Internship programme which is fully funded by the Ogden Trust, and supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The internship programme is aimed at developing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) skills in a real workplace environment by working on a real-life project. Joe & Robert have been tasked with researching and reporting on the real-life challenge of how best to safely rescue electricity workers when working at height using mobile elevating working platforms (MEWP’s). The reason for rescue may be due to the worker(s) having suffered a personal injury, become unwell, or due to an operational failure having developed with the MEWP.
Robert will gain on-the-job experience with UK Power Networks, while Joe will be working with Technicus Consulting based in our Gorleston office. The deliverable at the end of the project will be a jointly prepared final report, and a presentation to both Technicus Consulting & UK Power Networks detailing their findings and proposed solutions.
Technicus Consulting look forward to working with both Joe & Robert on this interesting project. The project will provide them with invaluable workplace experience, and assist with development and application of their STEM skills on a real-world project. It will also provide a fantastic platform from which they can progress with and succeed in their respective careers.
