UTROV Spread Sea-Fastenings for Relume Vessel
North Sea
Technicus Consulting were appointed by Hughes Sub-Surface Engineering group to provide structural design calculations for sea-fastenings required to install an ROV spread on the deck of the Relume vessel.
The UTROV spread consists of a rock grabbing ROV and support equipment, and is to be used for manoeuvring boulders for an offshore windfarm off the coast of Germany.
Technicus Consultings’ brief was to undertake measured surveys of the ship deck to identify structural hard-points, calculate environmental and acceleration forces acting on the equipment and to design sea-fastenings and deck spreader beams to allow safe transport and operation of the UTROV spread. Several iterations of the design were required due to the fluid nature of the equipment layout on the deck of the Relume.
Due to tight time constraints on the project, the sea-fastenings requirements were identified, surveyed, designed detailed and installed within a 48 hour window to ensure that the vessel sailed on time.
Technicus Consulting were able to undertake the work immediately, and were available to liaise with the project team to ensure that the sea-fastenings were designed & installed within the required program, and that vessel sailed at scheduled.
