Project Description

Reinforced Concrete Subsea Structures

Technicus Consulting has vast experience in the design and detailing of a large range of precast concrete structures for subsea use. We also have experience in the design of structural steel lifting-out and handling frames to allow safe handling and installation of these often irregularly shaped heavy subsea structures. Our experience in this field includes design of:

  • Protection mattresses;
  • Log mats
  • Pipe support structures;
  • Dropped object impact protection structures;
  • Clump weights
  • Umbilical tether blocks;
  • Towhead protection blocks;
  • Lifting, installation and handling frames for the above.

We have experience in designs carried out to numerous offshore design codes and guidance including the following:

  • British Standards (BS);
  • Det Norske Veritas (DNV);
  • Lloyds Register;
  • Noble Denton;
  • Norsok;
  • NRDC Guidance.

We have experience in the design of precast concrete subsea structures in lightweight, normal weight and high density (using magnetite aggregate) concrete mixes.

We often design design subsea structures to facilitate early age demoulding and onshore lifting to expedite construction programmes.

We offer design support through all stages of projects, including lifting, transportation, installation, operation and decommissioning.
