EMAS Hasbah II PCC Subsea Pipe Supports & Lifting Frame Design and Detailing
Arabian Gulf
Technicus Consulting was appointed by Neptune Subsea Stabilisation (Singapore) to provide structural design and consultancy services for precast concrete (PCC) subsea pipe supports and associated lifting equipment for the Hasbah II Project.
Neptune approached Technicus Consulting to assist them with value engineering the design of 70 no. variations of PCC subsea pipe supports in order to enable Neptune to pitch a more cost effective lifting and installation arrangement to the client, Saudi Aramco.
Technicus worked closely with Neptune to design-out expensive proprietary lifting devices specified by others, and economise on reinforcement bar sizes and arrangements to value engineer the project and enable Neptune to successfully secure the supply and installation contract.
A significant part of our scope of works included development and detailed structural design of a single installation lifting frame to enable the PCC subsea pipe support units to be demoulded and installed subsea. This involved a complex structural analysis and design to account for all possible permutations of lifting points and payload weights, which ranged from 9.8Te up to 87Te.
Technicus was pleased to support Neptune with this interesting and challenging project under tight project timescales set by Saudi Aramco, achieving significant cost savings and delivery on-time.
