Offshore Cargo Seafastening Design & Specification
Worldwide
Technicus Consulting has wide experience in the design and detailing of seafastenings for the transportation of cargo by offshore vessels.
Where clients are unable to supply worst case vessel motion data we are able to calculate appropriate vertical and horizontal acceleration figures based on limited vessel information. We will calculate appropriate offshore wind loads, snow and ice loads, and sea sloshing forces where necessary for seafastening design projects.
Our experience in the design of seafastenings extends worldwide, covering cargo transportation, offshore oil, gas, and offshore renewables sectors, and decommissioning. We have experience designing seafastenings for a wide range of items of deck mounted equipment, such as:
- ISO shipping containers;
- Steel skid frames & skid based cargo;
- Launch & Recovery Systems (LARS);
- Deck mounted winch units;
- Umbilical and cable reels;
- Cargo crates;
- Temporary mezzanine structures;
- Various other shipping cargo items.
We understand the space restrictions and no-fix zones that are often associated with vessel deck structures, and the challenges these often pose when designing and specifying suitable seafastenings. Our experience covers design of appropriate seafastenings for vessels with steel, timber and GRP deck structures.
We have experience in the design and specification of dog plates, ratchet straps, guy wires, bolted cleats, ISO connectors, and coach-bolted seafastening types, in accordance with DNV and Noble Denton design codes and guidance.
