Quayside Loading Assessment Jeld Wen Site, Riverside Rd
The site was in use as an offshore fabrication area for process modules. The client required an engineering appraisal of the quayside to determine a safe location for lift out craneage and the stability of the ground adjacent to the quay.
The structures in this area are ageing and known to have limited capacities.
The site was previously used as a timber import / storage facility.
Due to the tight timeframe and limited budget, a pragmatic approach was taken to assessing the quay heading
Technicus Consulting undertook archive research and reviewed bathymetric data.
From our local knowledge of ground conditions we commissioned cost effective geotechnical investigations to subsequently assess the proposals and advise on liftout options.
The project involved close working with client design team members and engineers to understand the preferred options and parameters.
With our long standing relationships with other specialists, Technicus Consulting project managed the necessary soils investigations and produced recommendations for siting and support of a heavy lift crane.
The subsequent liftout was carried out successfully using a 1000 tonne crane to load a vessel with modules weighing up[to 145 tonnes.
